Reading University and Redingensians RFC work in partnership to deliver first class rugby

Reading University’s partnership with Redingensians, who play in National 3 South West, ensures the development of all of the players at the University. Mike Tewksbury, who is head coach for Reading University, Redingensians and Berkshire, has developed an outstanding rugby programme at the University which offers players the chance to fulfil their potential. Mike has also established the Rams Academy which supports the development of promising younger players from both the University and local community with their transition into the senior teams.

Reading University enters four competitive men’s teams in BUCS giving players of different abilities the opportunity to play and enjoy university rugby.  Our 1st XV plays in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Premier B south and the 2nd XV offers a very reasonable standard of ruby only two leagues below. Head coach, Mike Tewksbury, ensures there is a clear pathway for all players and selection is based on performance. This season eight University players were selected for Berkshire U20, who have reached the County final against Cheshire to be played at Twickenham on 4th May.

Facilities

We have two excellent pitches and a floodlit grass training area located at the Sportspark, which is on our main Whiteknights Campus. The SportsPark’s Vo2 Fitness Studio provides an ideal range of performance strength equipment needed for performance rugby players. All of the SportsPark’s facilities are easily accessible from halls of residence and academic buildings.
